Sydney Mae Taylor Scholarship

The Foundation has closed their scholarship program permanently due to an illness their family.

The Sydney Mae Taylor Scholarship is a scholarship for students with congenital heart defects to pay for college. The scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. The scholarships are for four years of college as long as the awardee continues to meet requirements. The deadline is April 1, 2012.

 

Credit Union Scholarship

Credit Unions all over the country are offering high school students scholarships.  Because there are hundreds of credit unions and because their guidelines vary from one to the next here are some of the basics.  Most Credit Union Scholarships are for high school seniors with application deadlines in March.  The number and amount of scholarships vary.  In addition, there are other requirements like membership (it's not hard to do, just open an account), most require it, but not all.  Below is a listing of just of few of the credit unions that offer scholarships.

If you have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or a member of your immediate family (parent, spouse, child, or sibling) does then you may be eligible for one of 30 $10,000 scholarships being awarded by UCB a global biopharma focused on severe diseases.

If you missed the KFC Tweet for $20,000, you may be interested in the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program®.  It's for high school seniors with entrepreneurial drive, strong perseverance, demonstrated financial need, and who want to pursue a college education at an accredited public institution in the state they reside.

Global Youth Coalition Art Contest

Contributors are encouraged to send digital versions of video, photographs, paintings, sculptures, multi-media works, centered around 3 themes: Comprehensive Sexuality Education; Stigma and discrimination towards young people living with HIV; and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.  The deadline is for the GYCA Art Contest is Jan 30, 2011.  This contest is for young people 15 to 29.
 

Papa John’s Scholars Program

The Papa John’s Scholars program gives scholarships to students for academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, creative ability, athletic achievements and those who have overcome obstacles.

They call it a neighborhood based scholarship program because each local restaurant can choose to participate. When they do participate, it’s with high schools in the immediate delivery area of the participating restaurant.  Eligibility is not based on the home address of the student only the the high school they attend.

BURGER KING Scholars Program

Have your tuition Burger King’s way.  High school seniors are eligible to apply for the BURGER KING® Scholars Program.  There will be one prize of $25,000, up to 5 regional awards of $5,000 and local awards granted by Franchisees for $1,000.  Judging will be based on academic record (50%) and participation in school and community activities (50%). 

Elks National Foundation's 2015 Most Valuable Student Contest

500 four-year scholarships are going to be awarded to high school seniors by the Elks National Foundation.  The Elks National Foundation's Most Valuable Student contest deadline is December 4, 2015 (don't miss another scholarship, subscribe to the free newsletter).  The first place award will be $60,000 ($15,000 per year).

Win a College Scholarship in 140 Characters – KFC Scholarship

That’s right after years of offering traditional scholarships based on an essay; KFC is awarding a $20,000 scholarship to the high school senior who creates the best tweet.  They’ll be looking for creativity of the application (40%), ability of applicant to tell a compelling story on why they should receive the Scholarship award (30%), applicant’s entrepreneurial drive and display of desire to pursue a college education (30%).  Putting that all in 140 characters is your challenge.  Each tweet must have the hash tag #KFCScholar.  The deadline is November
