Credit Union Scholarship

Credit Unions all over the country are offering high school students scholarships.  Because there are hundreds of credit unions and because their guidelines vary from one to the next here are some of the basics.  Most Credit Union Scholarships are for high school seniors with application deadlines in March.  The number and amount of scholarships vary.  In addition, there are other requirements like membership (it's not hard to do, just open an account), most require it, but not all.  Below is a listing of just of few of the credit unions that offer scholarships.

GEAR UP Scholarships

The GEAR UP program provides grants to local governments, some of the funds are also used to provide college scholarships to low-income students.  The program is a Federal discretionary grant program whose purpose is to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.  GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) serves students beginning no later than the seventh grade and follows them through high school.
