National

National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) offers the following awards for to honor Hispanic nurses for their work: Ildaura Murillo-Rohde Award for Education Excellence, the Henrietta Villaescusa Community Service Award, the Janie Menchaca Wilson Leadership Award, and the Sarah Gomez Erlach Humanitarian Award. Deadline: Early April.

Society of Women Engineers Local Scholarships

Young women who are interested in the science and engineering fields are encouraged to apply for the many scholarships sponsored by local chapters of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

Each section has a different deadline. In general they range from February to March.

Want to go to college for free?  Well if you live in New Haven, Connecticut that may very well be possible.  City and school officials said that a new program would offer to pay eligible students’ way through any public college or university in Connecticut.

National Scholarships

Credit Union Scholarship

Credit Unions all over the country are offering high school students scholarships.  Because there are hundreds of credit unions and because their guidelines vary from one to the next here are some of the basics.  Most Credit Union Scholarships are for high school seniors with application deadlines in March.  The number and amount of scholarships vary.  In addition, there are other requirements like membership (it's not hard to do, just open an account), most require it, but not all.  Below is a listing of just of few of the credit unions that offer scholarships.

Grand Haven Area Community Foundation Scholarships

The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation and its two affiliates Allendale Community Foundation Coopersville Area Community Foundation are awarding scholarships to graduating seniors.  There are 70 scholarship funds that will provide scholarships to based on financial need, academic achievement, and personal and career goals.  The deadline for applications is March 1, 2013.

GEAR UP Scholarships

The GEAR UP program provides grants to local governments, some of the funds are also used to provide college scholarships to low-income students.  The program is a Federal discretionary grant program whose purpose is to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.  GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) serves students beginning no later than the seventh grade and follows them through high school.

Nursing Scholarships at Michigan State University

Scholarships for nursing students at Michigan State University may help paying tuition much easier with a new grant the school has received from the Helene Fuld Health Trust.  The University has received a $600,000 donation to provide scholarships for nursing students in its second-degree accelerated degree program bachelor's program.
